Following the crisis in the community, Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Ikare Akoko, the headquarters of the state’s Akoko North-East Local Government Area.
Two youth groups have been attacking each other in recent days following a New Year’s carnival in town.

Some people were allegedly killed, while shops and vehicles were allegedly vandalized and burned down by hoodlums.
The curfew order, on the other hand, was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde.
It reads:
“Security agencies have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the order just as investigations are already on to unravel the real cause(s) of the violent clash.
“For emphasis, Ikare-Akoko has been closed down for any unauthorized human movement and activity until further notice.”
