There is something about the Labour Party (LP) that really endears it to Nigerians and Governor Otti of Abia State is pushing that party’s ideals forward.
Indeed, Governor Alex Otti is registering the name of his party, Labour Party (LP) in the minds of Nigerians.
Truly, the facelift Otti has given Abia State in his few months as governor is enough to serve as a bragging right for the supporters of the party.
Again, residents of the state and Nigerians are shocked to hear that he would not take any salary for the next four years.
His party, LP, had, during campaigns, emphasised that it would cut cost of governance.
In fact, it is a priority for the party.
No Salary
The governor spoke at an event on Monday in Umuahia, the capital of the state.
Governor Otti revealed that he had not received a salary since he took office on May 29, 2023.

He also said he decided to forfeit his salary because he does not need the money and can take care of his family with his own money.
The Reminder
According to the governor, the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly recently reminded him that he had not received a salary for the past four months.
“The speaker reminded me that I have not taken salary for 4 months, and I will not take for 4 years. I have only one wife and 3 children, and we can take care of ourselves,” he said.
