British-Nigerian shoe designer, Liz Sanya, has successfully completed her attempt to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the largest sandal.
Her extraordinary creation, a massive pink clog, spans an impressive 3.156 meters (10 feet 4.2 inches) in width and stretches 8.147 meters (26 feet 8.8 inches) in length.
This creatiosurpasses previous records.
Liz Sanya embarked on this ambitious project on January 2, 2025, after receiving official confirmation from GWR, and completed it just 72 hours later, on January 4.
The event took place at Pixel Park in Lekki, Lagos, and drew a crowd of celebrities and notable figures, including Pheelz, Mayorkun, Korty EO, and P.Prime.
The current record holder for the largest sandal was a group of artisans from Municipio De Sahauyo.
A sandal measures 7.45 meters (24 feet 5.31 inches) in length and 3.09 meters (10 feet 1.65 inches) in width.
Reflecting on her accomplishment, Liz Sanya shared her heartfelt gratitude to those who supported her throughout the journey.
Also, she said that the achievement held a special significance for her, as she chose to attempt the record in Nigeria, a country with deep personal meaning to her.
“I can’t fully express what this achievement means to me,” Sanya said. ”
