Nigeria Customs Service surpassed its 5 trillion Naira revenue target on November 12, 2024, collecting ₦5.079 trillion.
Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi credited strategic partnerships and government support, positioning the NCS to exceed its target by 10%.
During the 2024 annual conference of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Abuja, Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi proudly announced that the NCS had surpassed its 2024 revenue target.
By November 12, the service had collected ₦5.079 trillion, exceeding the ₦5 trillion goal with more than a month remaining in the fiscal year.
This achievement, projected to surpass the target by 10%, demonstrates the NCS’s commitment to both revenue collection and trade facilitation.
Adeniyi explained that this success was driven by strong government support, strategic collaborations with key agencies, and a modernised approach to operations.
“This is not just about numbers; it shows the power of collaboration and efficiency in driving the economy forward,” he stated.

Moreover, he emphasised the NCS’s shift from traditional import duties to a broader focus, including supporting exporters and small businesses.
Through partnerships and greater transparency, the NCS had strengthened relationships both within Nigeria and internationally.
As a result, the service saw a significant improvement in the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) rankings—rising 33 places, making the NCS one of the top five agencies in trade facilitation.
Ultimately, the NCS’s efforts in improving trade processes, enhancing stakeholder understanding, and fostering partnerships have yielded real results.
As the year comes to an end, Adeniyi expressed confidence that the service would continue to exceed expectations, contributing to the federal government’s ₦19.4 trillion revenue target for 2024.
