The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made significant arrests in two separate cases involving drug trafficking.
The agency’s operations led to the capture of key individuals suspected of attempting to export illegal substances to international destinations.
The NDLEA says it arrested a businesswoman, Mrs. Adewunmi Adebola Dorcas and her son. They were attempting to export opioids to the UK.
And also apprehended auto parts dealer, Arinze Ora, for trying to smuggle cocaine to Congo Brazzaville.
How NDLEA Arrested Drug trafficker
On September 6, NDLEA officers at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos intercepted a cargo destined for the UK.
Specifically, the cargo contained 924 bottles of codeine-based syrup and 5,250 tablets of rohypnol hidden within foodstuffs.
Freight agent Owojori Olanrewaju Sunday was arrested at the scene.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Mrs. Adewunmi and her son, Adewunmi Akeem Temitope.
The NDLEA statement said: “Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested Mrs. Adewunmi Adebola Dorcas, a businesswoman from Ibadan.
“Also the arrest Arinze Ora, an auto parts dealer, for attempting to export opioids and cocaine to London, UK, and Congo Brazzaville respectively.”

Content Of Shipment
The statement continued: “On September 6, 2024, NDLEA officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport intercepted a cargo bound for the UK.
“A search revealed 924 bottles of codeine-based syrup weighing 135.70 kg and 5,250 tablets of rohypnol concealed in cartons of foodstuffs.”
“The freight agent, Owojori Olanrewaju Sunday, confessed to working for Mrs. Adewunmi.
“He admitted he was paid ₦2,411,000.00 for this shipment and ₦2.1 million for a previous consignment”.
Meanwhile, on September 11, NDLEA operatives at the same airport intercepted cartons of auto spare parts.
Also, checkers powder custard destined for Congo Brazzaville on Ethiopian Airlines were intercepted.
They discovered 300 grams of cocaine hidden in the checkers powder custard containers.
Arinze Ora, who sent the consignment, was later arrested.
He operates an auto parts business at Shop 12, Block 7 Aspanda Trade Fair Auto Parts Wing, Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos.
