The Rome public prosecutor’s office has requested the indictment of Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis on charges of false accounting.
The allegations span a period of three years and involve several high-profile player transfers, including those of Victor Osimhen and Kostas Manolas.
De Laurentiis is accused of recording fictitious capital gains in Napoli’s purchase of Osimhen from Lille in 2020.
This deal, along with Manolas’ transfer from AS Roma to Napoli in 2019, is under scrutiny from investigators.
Prosecutors allege that these deals generated tens of millions of euros in fictitious capital gains by inflating the value of certain players beyond their actual worth on the transfer market.
In addition to De Laurentiis, prosecutors have also requested that the club, and Andrea Chiavelli, De Laurentiis’ right-hand man, be put on trial.
