President Muhammadu Buhari’s speech seems to lack the power to stop growing anger and uneasiness within Naira as a result of Naira scarcity. 

Ojoto is in the news again and this time the Naira scarcity is the fuel, powering the grievance. 

There is an outbreak of a massive protest at Ojota and Mile 12 areas of Lagos State, as youths storm the streets on rampage, destroying and burning buildings and stalls in the area.

Vehicular movement has been halted and trending video on social media show motorists and road users running for safety.

The cause of the protest remains unclear, however, an eyewitness revealed that the pandemonium broke out at Ojota, Mile 12, Ketu and Agege areas of Lagos, as hundreds of protesters kicking against fuel and naira scarcity barricaded the roads.

According to the witnesses, the protesters barricaded the roads and made bonfire with used tyres.

Violence, however, began after some commercial drivers refused to make a detour as directed by the protesters.

However, to contain the situation, Soldiers from OP Messa and Policemen have been deployed to the areas.

When they arrived, they shot into the air and shot teargas to different directions.

The situation forced many to scamper, sustaining different levels of injury.

Mile 12, located on the way to Ogun and Oyo states, is famous for its fruit market. Ojota is locate on the same expressway but is closer to Ikeja, the capital of Lagos State.
