Messi, 35, joined PSG in the summer of 2021, after running down his contract with Barcelona.
According to Sporting News, the Argentina icon signed a $41 million-per-season contract with the Parisians, agreeing to remain at the club till June of 2023.
His contract is ending in few months.
But are there chances that the World Cup winner could decide to move his boots to the American soil?
If It’s All About The Money
Superstar forward, Lionel Messi, is in the news over the desire of several American teams to ensure he comes to the United States.
They are even going to the extent of pulling funds together to ensure they have him.
Basically, all they plan is make an offer of $1 million per week, which surpasses what he earns at PSG.
From reports, this funds will be rallied from different clubs in a League just to make sure that he comes over.
Indeed, their target is that they will get the eyes of people in the US on their league, having Messi there.
That way, more TV views and money will flow to the clubs.
Really, that money could make Messi decide to move his boots away from Europe to the Americas.
For instance there were reports that he could sign with Inter Miami after the World Cup and join the MLS side following the 2022-23 European season.
Sportico’s recent MLS valuations put Inter Miami at $585 million.
If he signed on, his salary would be in the neighborhood of $20 million to $30 million a year.
It Is Messi’s Desire
Where a person’s heart is, most times, the person puts his mouth.
Messi has already spoken of his desire to, one day, play and live in the United States – presumably as the final stage in his illustrious career.
The footballer definitely, is nearing his retirement from international football. If he desires to play in the US, it will be okay to hit the iron now that it is still hot.
He has had issues at PSG, with fans booing him in his last few games and staying there on a new contract could mean more trouble for him.
Messi’s performance had lowered, as age goes up. Fans are afraid he may never hit top form again.
As reported by The Mirror, Messi had earlier said: “I always have had the illusion of being able to enjoy and live the experience of living in the United States, of finding out how that league is, what life is like there.
“I would like to later in my career but if it happens or not, I don’t know”.
Messi: Endorsements
This is another aspect of Messi’s career that could lure him to the US.
Lionel is one of the richest athletes in the history of sports, and is one of only a handful of players to make over $1 billion while still playing.
Others in this category are Tiger Woods and LeBron James.
According to Forbes, Messi’s net worth in off-field earnings, amounted to a total of USD 55 million between 2021 and 2022.

This could increase, considering the number of companies that could come for him in the US.
This could be another reason Messi could pack his boots and head to the Untied States once his contract with PSG ends.
Indeed, the US football could be getting ready to have the biggest name in football soon.
However, that is if he sees the need to be in the USA in this time of his career.
