A judge has denied bail to rapper Lil Durk, , citing concerns over community safety and his alleged involvement in multiple murder-for-hire plots.
Lil Durk is currently in federal custody, facing serious charges related to a murder-for-hire plot. The charges stem from an alleged attempt to have rapper Quando Rondo killed in retaliation for the 2020 murder of King Von, a close associate of Durk’s.
Lil Durk’s legal team proposed a $3.3 million bond package, including $2.3 million in equity from two Georgia properties, $1 million in cash from Sony Music, and extensive security measures, including electronic monitoring.
However, the judge rejected the proposal, stating there were no conditions that could guarantee public safety. Prosecutors described the rapper as a flight risk and accused him of using his influence and resources to pose ongoing threats.
The court filings also unveiled further allegations. Authorities claim Lil Durk financed the killing of Stephon Mack, a gang leader, in January 2022, purportedly as retribution for the 2021 murder of his brother, Dontay Banks.
Prosecutors also allege Durk offered bounties for the murder of a witness’s family member and others linked to his brother’s death
Lil Durk’s trial is scheduled to begin on January 7, 2025. If convicted, the rapper faces life imprisonment.
