As the nationwide protest progressed to its fourth day, Lagos State, the nation’s commercial hub, is returning normalcy.
Although, isolated protests continue, normal life is returning to different aspects of the state’s economy.
Indeed, Lagos State has returned to regular operations after a hunger protest disrupted business and daily activities.
Commercial ventures are now fully functional, and major roads, including those near banks and businesses, are experiencing typical traffic.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has resumed his official duties, holding an Executive Council Meeting at the State House.
On Sunday, President Bola Tinubu called on protesters to end their demonstrations and pursue dialogue.
Lagos Hunger Protest
In Lagos, Governor Sanwo-Olu praised the protesters for responding to the President’s appeal and halting their actions.
Also, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed that peace had been restored and government operations had resumed.

“Lagos is peaceful, which is what Lagosians desire.
“The governor has resumed state business, and government employees are back at work.
“And the public is returning to access government services,” Omotoso said.
Also, he emphasised Lagos’ significance as Nigeria’s commercial hub and expressed gratitude to the protesters for their role in stabilising the city.
“Lagosians have chosen peace and rejected chaos,” he noted.
He added that, following the state government’s release of three contact numbers for dialogue, thousands of calls from individuals and groups have been received.
Major markets, financial institutions, and the state secretariat have resumed full commercial activities indicating a return to normalcy.
Meanwhile, only a few protesters remained at the Ojota, Lagos protest ground.
