In a significant crackdown on illegal drugs, the Lagos State Police Command has arrested two individuals in possession of substance suspected to be cocaine.

The Police Command in Lagos State says it has detained two suspects, Sunday Nwabufor, 47, and Obinna Nweke, 45, for alleged possession of 120 wraps of substance suspected to be cocaine.

Arrest Of Suspected Cocaine Dealers

The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this in a post he shared on his X handle, @benHundeyin, on Friday.

He said that Nwabufor, a resident of Festac, and Nweke, who resides in the Ketu Mile 12 area of the state, were intercepted based on reports from members of the public.

“The suspects were apprehended by officers of Ojo Division on Wednesday at about 2:00 p. m. in the Ojo area of Lagos State following a tip-off.

“They were also found with 120 wraps of substance suspected to be cocaine,” the image maker said.

Police Confirmation

However, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer stated that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged accordingly.

“This arrest is a testament to our commitment to combating drug-related crimes.

“And also ensuring public safety in Lagos State,” said the spokesperson.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to rid our communities of illicit substances and bring those involved in the trade to justice.”

In recent months, the police have conducted several raids and arrests, seizing significant quantities of illicit substances.

The suspects’ identities and the circumstances surrounding their arrest are currently under investigation.

However, authorities have assured that the duo will face the full weight of the law if found guilty.
