Kidnapped Kogi Students Regain Freedom

The female students of Kogi State Polytechnic who were kidnapped on their way home for the holidays have regained their freedom.

The four female students were abducted by armed men in Ondo on Friday.

The students were kidnapped on the Akunnu-Ajowa axis in the Akoko area of Ondo.

The victims identified as Badero Florence, Aregbesola Oreoluwa, Ahmed Ifeoluwa, and Olarotimi Omotoyosi, were freed in the early hours of Wednesday.

Soji Ogedengbe, a former state lawmaker, confirmed the release of the students.

Mr. Ogedengbe, in a short message, said the students would soon be “reunited” with family members.

Funmilayo Omisanya, the police spokeswoman in Ondo, could not be reached to confirm the release.

A police source however confirmed the release, revealing that the students had been taken to a hospital.
