Keke Palmer has made history as the first woman to win the Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Game Show.
She received the award for hosting NBC’s Password, which was a new category at the Primetime Emmys.
She beat out hosts like Ken Jennings, Mayim Bialik, Steve Harvey, and Pat Sajak. Palmer is the first woman to win this award since 2009 and the first Black woman ever nominated or winning in this category.
This victory is also significant as it’s been 50 years since a Password host was nominated or won.
During her acceptance speech, Palmer expressed her excitement and gratitude, thanking Jimmy Fallon, NBC, and acknowledging the milestone.
She said: “Wow. That is so exciting. Thank you so much. I’m really just so thankful, I’m almost speechless.
“I want to thank the people who allowed this to happen, thank you to Jimmy Fallon, thanks to NBC.”
Also, it’s worth noting that this is not Palmer’s first Emmy.
She previously won for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series in 2021 for the Facebook Watch series Turnt Up With The Taylors.
