After a rigorous two-hour question-and-answer session, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun received the confirmation of the Nigerian Senate crowing her as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
The decorated judge is now the highest-ranking justice of the Supreme Court.

Kekere-Ekun is now the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Her confirmation came on Wednesday after a rigorous two-hour question-and-answer session with senators.
She has been serving in this role on an acting basis since August.
During her screening today, Kekere-Ekun was joined by members of the judiciary from different courts and her relatives.
Letter To The Senate
The screening process commenced after President Bola Tinubu approved that the Senate should proceed with the confirmation of Kekere-Ekun as CJN.

In a letter to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu mentioned, “I have the honour to forward the nomination of Honourable Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun CON for confirmation as CJN.
“While it is my hope that this request will receive the expeditious consideration and confirmation of the senate, please, accept the distinguished senate president the assurances of my highest consideration and personal regards.”
