Global Citizen has announced John Legend as the headline act for the 2025 Move Afrika tour, the first pan-African touring circuit led by international artistes.
The 2025 tour will include two stops: Move Afrika: Kigali on 21 February at BK Arena in Rwanda and Move Afrika: Lagos on 25 February at the Palms in Nigeria.
Legend’s Vision for Africa’s Music Scene
Expressing his excitement, John Legend said, “I’m honoured and excited to perform in Kigali and Lagos as part of the Move Afrika tour.
This initiative delivers unforgettable shows, fosters entrepreneurship, and creates job opportunities, empowering young people in Africa’s growing music and creative industries.
Africa has always been a global cultural powerhouse, and I’m proud to contribute to its future in live music.”
A Mission to Empower Africa’s Youth
Hugh Evans, Co-Founder and CEO of Global Citizen, emphasised the broader mission of the initiative. “Move Afrika grows every year to equip and inspire Africa’s dynamic youth to engage with live music and creative industries.
We’re also investing in infrastructure to ensure Africa joins the international touring circuit,” Evans stated.
Move Afrika debuted in 2023, with Kendrick Lamar headlining a show in Kigali. The initiative aims to boost economic opportunities for Africa’s youth through live music while integrating the continent into global music markets.
