The celebrated actress and filmmaker recently set social media abuzz after publicly identifying as a feminist while emphasising that she does not support women disrespecting their husbands.
Funke Akindele, known for her powerful storytelling and strong female roles on screen, made these remarks while advising the wife of popular skit maker Kamo State in a now-viral video.
Her message? Women are powerful, but that power must be wielded with wisdom, respect, and economic strength.
In her heartfelt speech, Funke Akindele rejected the long-standing notion that women are the weaker gender.
She insists that women possess incredible strength, resilience, and intelligence.
She urged society especially men to discard outdated beliefs that confine women to the kitchen or diminish their worth.

“I am a feminist, but I don’ t support a woman disrespecting her husband. Make sure you do what is right,” she stated with conviction.
She stressed the importance of women having economic power, not just for personal growth but also to support their families.
“Our economic power is very important; that is why we should make sure we have it and protect it, so we can support our husbands,” she advised.
While addressing women, Akindele also turned her attention to men, urging them to treat their wives and female counterparts with the dignity they deserve.
“Men are supposed to treat women specially, with respect,” she declared.
