Ibrahimovic will work closely with the club’s principal owners RedBird Capital Partners.

Financial Times reports that the former Manchester United star will join the club as an advisor to AC Milan’s management and ownership.

The Financial Times quoted the former footballer, who said, “RedBird has partnered with some of the greatest athletes, teams and business figures in the world to create businesses with meaning and impact.

“I look forward to contributing to their investing activities across their sports, media and entertainment properties.”

RedBird bought a 99 percent stake in Milan in 2021 for €1.2bn and have changed the fortunes of the club after their struggles in the last decade.

The Serie A giants won the Scudetto in the 2021/22 season and reached the semi-final of the Champions League last season.

They also have stakes in Liverpool owners’ Fenway Sports Group.

The Rossonerri, who are currently third in Serie A – nine points behind league leaders and rivals Inter – will be next seen in action on Wednesday when they take on Newcastle in their final Champions League group game.

It’s a must-win game for Stefan Pioli’s side if they want to qualify for the knockout stage.
