Kashim Shettima, the vice president of Nigeria told former Vice President Atiku Abubakar that his respect for him will not prevent him from throwing political jabs at the older politician in the run-up to the 2027 general elections.
Shettima jokingly made the remark on Thursday, Feb. 6, while recognising dignitaries at a symposium in Abuja to commemorate the 60th birthday of Kayode Fayemi, former governor of Ekiti State.
While acknowledging Atiku as one of the dignitaries at the event, Shettima recalled his role during the 2023 presidential election, describing himself as an “adjunct provocateur” who took “hot shots” at Atiku.
However, he noted that Atiku had taken the criticisms calmly.
Also, Shettima revealed that, in private conversations, he normally addresses Atiku as “Baba”.
However, he said that come 2027, Atiku should expect more shots from him.
