If you’re a Nigerian student aspiring to gain admission into a tertiary institution, one important step you need to take is registering for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
UTME is a standardised examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for prospective candidates seeking admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education in Nigeria.
Here’s a simple guide to registering for the UTME in Nigeria.
Step 1: Create a Profile
Visit the official JAMB website www.jamb.gov.ng and click on “Create e-facility Account/ Login” to create a profile.
Fill in your personal details such as name, date of birth, email address, and password. Make sure to provide accurate information.
Step 2: Obtain The E-PIN
After creating your profile, you need to purchase the JAMB e-PIN.
You can do this by visiting any authorised JAMB registration center or designated banks.
At the office, you will be asked to provide your profile code. Afterwards, you will pay the registration fee and you will receive a confirmation with the e-PIN.
Step 3: Complete The Registration
Log in to your JAMB profile using your email address and password.
Click on “UTME Registration” and provide the necessary information, including your bio-data, choice of examination center, preferred course of study, and choice of institutions.
Upload a recent passport photograph, your fingerprints, and other required documents.
Review your information and make corrections if necessary.
Step 4: Print Confirmation Slip
Once you have completed the registration, you will receive a confirmation slip containing your exam details.
Make sure to print this slip, as it will serve as proof of your successful registration and contain important information for the examination.
Step 5: Prepare For The Exam
With your registration completed, it’s time to start preparing for the UTME.
Study your chosen subjects thoroughly, practice with past questions, and familiarise yourself with the exam format.
Pay attention to the exam date, time, and venue on your confirmation slip.
