Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared how he copes with the grief of losing loved ones.
Davido has faced numerous personal tragedies in quick succession.
From the devastating loss of his mother, Mrs. Victoria Imade Adeleke, when he was just 11 years old, to the tragic passing of his 3-year-old son Ifeanyi Adeleke, and close associates like Tagbo, DJ Olu, Obama DMW, and his personal photographer Fortune.
In a recent interview with Mystery Fashionist in New York, the singer opened up about how his faith has been his anchor through these dark times.
“I have lost a lot of people. I lost my mum at the age of 11. I’m just being strong. I did a song called ‘Stand Strong,’” Davido shared.
Also, he references to the track he dedicated to staying resilient in the face of adversity.
He further emphasised the importance of his faith in keeping him going
“I feel like strength and obviously, my faith has kept me going.”
Beyond his personal struggles, Davido also took the opportunity to address certain misconceptions about him.
“I think sometimes people believe I’m not approachable. On the other hand, some also feel I’m too accessible,” he noted.
The superstar explained that his upbringing in a large family has shaped his personality.

This makes him accustomed to being surrounded by people.
“I grew up in a big family, I’m used to having people around me. My talent and success is God-given,” he added.
