The Headies Awards has introduced two new categories of awards this year’s awards feature 31 categories, including the new additions: ‘Soundtrack of the Year’ and ‘Best Performer Live’.

The ‘Soundtrack of the Year’ category acknowledges the crucial role that music plays in enhancing the cinematic experience. It honour talented artiste who create memorable soundtracks specifically for motion pictures or series.

To be eligible, a song must have been written and composed originally for use in a motion picture or series, and not be a pre-existing track featured in the production.

This category is a non-voting category, meaning the winner will be selected by a panel of judges rather than through public voting.

The judges will evaluate the soundtracks based on artistic merit and technical excellence, rather than popularity or commercial success.

Nominees Announced For ‘Soundtrack Of The Year’ And ‘Best Performer Live’ Categories

The nominees for ‘Soundtrack of the Year’ include “Eledumare” by Tedalaese, “Lose to Gain” by Kaline, “Kill Boro” by Native Filmworks & Wizard Chan, “Orisa” by Beriolla, “Emotions” by Tiwa Savage & Asa, and “Tribe Called Judah Soundtrack” by TCJ & Abbey Wonder.

The second new category, ‘Best Performer Live’, recognizes and celebrates artistes who deliver outstanding live performances.

This category honour exceptional talent, energy, and showmanship in live performances, as captured in recorded and officially released videos.

To be eligible, the live performance must have been recorded and officially released in video format, making it accessible to a wide audience and evaluable by judges.

‘Best Performer Live’ is a non-voting category, with winners selected by a panel of judges.

The judges will assess live performances based on criteria such as vocal delivery, stage presence, musicality, and overall entertainment value.

The nominees for ‘Best Performer Live’ include REMA, Omah Lay, Flavor, Wizard Chan, Burna Boy, and Femi Kuti & the Positive Force.
