Gentleman Mike Ejeagha, known as the grandfather of Igbo folk music, has been a beloved figure in Nigerian music for over six decades.
His music, rich in storytelling and cultural wisdom, continues to inspire generations.
Recently, the 90-year-old legend enjoyed renewed fame when his 1983 song ‘Ka Esi Le Onye Isi Oche’ went viral after comedian and skit maker Brain Jotter used it in a video that captured the hearts of many.
This newfound popularity earned Ejeagha a special honor on Monday, September 2, 2024, when the Enugu State government, led by Governor Peter Mbah, named a street after him to celebrate his legacy.

They expressed their gratitude to the governor for fulfilling promises that had been made by previous administrations but never kept.
The street-naming ceremony was filled with joy and celebration, as Governor Mbah even joined in the viral ‘Gwo gwo gwo ngwo’ dance, much to the delight of the gathered residents.
