Box office powerhouse Funke Akindele has set her sights on a ₦5 billion target for her upcoming film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, which is set to hit cinemas on December 13, 2024.
The seasoned filmmaker revealed her ambitions during an Exhibitor Soirée held at Film House Cinemas on November 20, 2024.
Known for her grand and unique marketing strategies, Akindele began promoting the film months ahead of its release.
“We can beat ₦5 billion. I have faith,” she confidently stated during the event.
In addition to announcing her targets, Akindele issued a plea for vigilance against piracy, referencing the challenges faced with her 2023 film, A Tribe Called Judah.
The movie suffered significant revenue loss after it was leaked online.
“I plead with you guys, I know things are hard now, but I want to beg you to be security conscious. People use their phones to film.”
“Remember what happened to us last year with A Tribe Called Judah? Please let’s be very careful and vigilant. It’s our movie, and we want to make money from it,” Akindele urged.
She also appealed to cinema staff and audiences to enforce a no-recording policy to protect the film’s revenue.
Everybody Loves Jenifa features an impressive cast lineup, including Funke Akindele reprising her iconic role as Jenifa and Folarin ‘Falz’ Falana as Sege.
Other stars include Jackie Appiah, Nancy Isime, Stan Nze, Bisola Aiyeola, Patience Ozokwor, Chimezie Imo, and Isaac Olayiwola (Layi Wasabi).
