Following Nigeria’s humiliating 4-0 loss to Portugal in a World Cup warm-up match on Thursday, a minor drama unfolded.
While Nigerians were fuming over the team’s failure to ‘fight’ on the field and consecutive friendly defeats, assistant coach Finidi George and forward Moses Simon took the ‘fight’ to overtime.
Players traditionally swap jerseys after a game, and Simon and Portuguese defender Pepe were about to do so when George asked to take it instead.
Although his words were inaudible, George was clearly upset that Simon had beaten him to the jersey. The players, on the other hand, had their jerseys swapped and walked away.
