The Federal Government has announced its plans to open the second Niger Bridge on December 15, 2022.
This was announced by the federal controller of works in Delta state, Jimoh Olawale, on Wednesday.
The bridge would be opened ahead of the festive season to allow ease of traffic and smooth travel.

The federal controller noted that the bridge would be open for 30 days.
“As we know, during the Christmas celebration, commuters suffer hardship accessing the old Niger Bridge due to traffic jams, but with this arrangement, traffic congestion in Asaba-Benin Expressway will ease.
“We have notified the state government of this arrangement and we are working with the Federal Road Safetu Corps to ensure a hitch-free vehicular movement.
“Motorists going towards Owerru direction would divert through the access road mead the old Nigeri Bridge to the new Bridge,” he said.
The Second Niger bridge is currently 95 per cent completed.
