In Nigeria, while security operatives are looking for firearms to tackle the rising insecurity, a father and sons in Akwa Ibom State thought it wise to venture into the trade of guns manufacturing.

Ironically, instead of helping tackle the insecurity, this illegal gun factory ended up encouraging crime.

Father & Sons Gun Manufacturing Factory Bursted In Akwa Ibom

Till this very moment, how David Nse Emmanuel and his father, Akpan Nse Emmanuel learnt how to fabricates different types of firearms still remains a mystery to many.

Meanwhile, while the Emmanuel family continued to profit from this trade, crime in the city grew noticeable leaving the police with a puzzle to solve.

That was when the police decided to swing into action.

Now, as we speak, men of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have not uncovered this gun manufacturing factory, they have made some significant arrest.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph O. Eribo, confirmed the arrest on Monday at the Command Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo.

The Gun Factory 

Eribo explained that the gun factory was discovered based on credible information.

According to him, after receiving the information, the police operatives responded swiftly.

They stormed the location and arrested one suspect, while others managed to escape.

Recovered items included seven newly made single-barrel guns, five newly made double-barrel guns, one special steel double-trigger pistol, one broken single-barrel gun, one trigger-handle walking stick knife, and several cut iron pipes used for constructing gun barrels.

Eribo said: “Based on credible information received by the Command, operatives raided a gun-making factory where firearms of various types were fabricated and sold to criminals.

“During the operation, one David Nse Emmanuel was arrested, while his father, Akpan Nse Emmanuel, and his brothers, who jointly run the business, fled.”

Eribo assured the public that efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
