EPL: What Arteta said about Martinelli after Arsenal failed to beat Sheffield United

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has heaped praises on striker, Gabriel Martinelli after the Brazilian youngster scored his first Premier League goal in the Gunners’ 1-1 draw against Sheffield United on Saturday.

Martinelli started for Arteta’s men in the absence of captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who was serving a three-match ban.

The 18-year-old fired Arsenal in front just before half-time, but John Fleck scored a late equaliser for the visitors at the Emirates Stadium.

Speaking on Martinelli’s performance against Sheffield, Arteta was quoted by Metro UK as saying after the match: “He’s an 18-year-old kid with all the enthusiasm but as well, he’s so brave to make decisions, to threaten the opponent every time.

“He’s all the time in the middle of the goal, waiting for an opportunity to come.

“The fact he hasn’t played 90 minutes for a while – since his injury – but is still in the way he went about every single action is impressive.”

Arsenal will now face Chelsea in their next Premier League fixture on Tuesday at Stamford Bridge.
