The social media space has been buzzing with reactions after former Deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice were found guilty of organ trafficking by a United Kingdom court.
Kidney Exploit
Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, daughter Sonia and Obinna Obeta, a doctor involved in the case, conspired to bring the victim to London to exploit him for his kidney.
Modern Slavery
The jury found that Ekwerenmadu and others mentioned were guilty.
According to the Jury, they would face the punishment for their offence.
The case is the first verdict of its kind under the Modern Slavery Act.

Reacting to the verdict by the court, many Nigerians commended the British court. They say if the case was handled in Nigeria, it would have been swept under the carpet.
Many others extended prayers to the family in these trying times.

“He’s not the victim here. He knew the details and what was expected of him.
“If he knew he wasn’t comfortable with the agreement he shouldn’t have taken the deal. Now he got to the UK.
“Most likey got some first payment and then decide to go report them? Now he’s has messed up the life of the whole family.
“I mean the family are innocent as well but that young man is definitely not the victim. He just played smart.”
