Eko Electricity Staff Stabbed During Disconnection Of Illegal Connection

Electricity: Eko DisCo kicks off capital projects for improved service delivery

A staff member of Eko Electricity Distribution Company(EKEDC) has been stabbed during the disconnection of an illegal connection in Ikate, Lagos.

The staff member, Mr. Sanmi Matthew Akanni was allegedly assaulted by Mr. Ayomide Oyebanjo, on November 29, 2022.

The Chief Spokesperson of EKEDC, Godwin Idemudia announced this in a statement describing the act as barbaric and inhumane.

Idemudia had revealed that Sanmi, a driver with the Ikate zone team under its Orile district, was stabbed severely with pictorial evidence as proof.

He said, “While in the process of disconnecting the illegal connection, bottled were broken by Oyebanjo and the driver Sanmi was stabbed severally, we have pictorial evidence to prove this.”

The driver is currently on admission, receiving treatment at a hospital in Lagos.

The culprit has be arraigned before a court on Wednesday and has been remanded at Ikoyi Prison after refusing bail.

Idemudia encouraged customers to help the company in fighting assault against its staff and other illegal activities.
