Fresh concerns for residents in Lagos Mainland Local Government Area, LGA, as cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic within the area tops at 114 ahead of Eti-Osa, 86, Ikeja 41 and Alimosho 15.

This is coming even as Nigeria confirms 86 new cases of the pandemic, the highest in a single day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 627.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, also confirmed three new death in the country as a result of the pandemic, bringing the total number of persons who have died to the virus to 21.

A breakdown of the development shows that Lagos maintains top position with 70 cases, followed by Federal Capital Territory, FCT, with seven, while Katsina and Akwa Ibom are next, with three cases each.

Others include Jigawa, Bauchi and Borno States, with one case respectively.

In a Tweet on the NCDC handle, it stated that, “As at 11:50 pm 19th April there are 627 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria.

“The total number of discharged case stood at 170, while 21 persons have died to the pandemic.

“As at 11:50 pm 19th April, the breakdown of cases by State is: Lagos- 376, FCT- 88, Kano- 36, Osun- 20, Oyo- 16, Edo- 15, Ogun- 12, Kwara- 9, Katsina- 12, Bauchi- 7,
Kaduna- 6, Akwa Ibom- 9, Delta- 4, Ekiti- 3, Ondo- 3, Enugu- 2, Rivers-2, Niger- 2,
Benue- 1, Anambra- 1, Borno- 1 and Jigawa- 2.”

Meanwhile, as at Sunday evening, there are 309 confirmed cases of COVID 19 in Lagos. 196 of the cases are still active, 94 have been discharged, 2 have been evacuated, 3 have been transferred and we have had 14 fatalities.

A classification of confirmed cases by LGA put Lagos Mainland, Eti-Osa, Ikeja and Alimosho top with 114, 86, 41, and 15 cases respectively.

Others include Kosofe 12, Shomolu 8, Mushin and Oshodi/Isolo 7 each, Surulere 6, Amuwo Odofin 5, Ikorodu 4, Apapa 2, Badagry 2, Ifako/Ijaye 2, Lagos Island 2, Agege 1, Ibeju-Lekki 1.

Currently, there are no confirmed cases in three LGAs of the state, they include Ajeromi/Ifelodun, Epe and Ojo.

Also there is a cluster of infection in Alimosho LGA. The Gender distribution put Male at 70, while Female 30 percent.
