Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has had his ₦1bn suit against the Nigerian government and the Department of State Services (DSS) dismissed by a federal high court in Abuja.
The suit, delivered on Monday by Justice James Omotosho, alleged violations of Kanu’s fundamental rights while in detention.
However, Judge Omotosho ruled that Kanu failed to present sufficient evidence to support his claims.
Furthermore, Kanu’s lawyers had argued that the DSS denied him access to his legal counsel and engaged in illegal eavesdropping on their conversations.
