The controversy began when South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs (DHA) released a statement suggesting that Chidimma’s mother had been involved in fraud and identity theft
As the accusations surfaced, Chidimma faced intense public scrutiny, with many taking to social media to voice their opinions.
In an interview with Arise 360, the 23-year-old explained that constantly reading comments online had become toxic for her well-being.
“I had to delete it because I felt like it was too much for me. I’m a comment reader, so I read each and every comment,” she revealed.
“I could spend 80% of my day reading comments, and it just became toxic.”

For Chidimma, stepping away from the platform provided much-needed relief and allowed her to prioritise her mental health.
However, she remains active on Instagram.
Meanwhile, she has taken steps to limit her exposure by restricting comments at one point.
