Chelsea has announced their 25-man Conference League squad, and notable absentees include Cole Palmer, Ben Chilwell, Romeo Lavia, and Wesley Fofana.
England forward Palmer, has been left out to manage his workload, while Lavia and Fofana are working their way back from long-term injuries.
The decision to rest Palmer in the league phase of the competition allows Chelsea to spread minutes among fringe players.
Young midfielders Cesare Casadei and Carney Chukwuemeka, and striker Marc Guiu have been selected in place of the omitted senior team players. Chelsea can re-register the trio for the knockout rounds on February 6.
Ben Chilwell, on the other hand, has been dropped from the squad and continues to be on the fringes at Stamford Bridge.
Manager Enzo Maresca has informed the England defender that he has no future at Chelsea, and Chilwell has been offered to multiple Premier League clubs without success this summer.
