Casadei, who joined Chelsea from Inter in 2022, has been linked with a return to Italy in recent weeks as Torino tried and failed to reach an agreement with the Blues.

Napoli have become the new favourites to sign him, Gianluca Di Marzio reports they are all set to table an opening bid.

Casadei has hardly featured for Chelsea this season as coach Enzo Maresca has only given him playing time in the Conference League and Carabao Cup.

Last season, the midfielder managed 11 Premier League appearances before he was loaned to Maresca’s Leicester side, featuring 22 times as they won the Championship.

Napoli coach Antonio Conte was in charge at Inter while Casadei was part of the youth academy and the 21-year-old fits the profile the ex-Chelsea manager is looking for, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

However, Napoli have a slender lead at the top of Serie A and hope to strengthen their midfield options to boost their hopes of winning the title.

With no return to Maresca’s squad in sight for Casadei, the Italy Under-21 international will hope Napoli can strike a deal with the Stamford Bridge side soon.

Bentancur Provides Update After Sickening Fall

Rodrigo Bentancur has confirmed he is “all good” after worryingly collapsing to the ground unchallenged during Tottenham’s win over Liverpool.

In the opening minutes of Tottenham’s 1-0 victory against Liverpool in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final, Bentancur fell to the turf in worrisome fashion. He had gone up to meet a Spurs corner with a diving header, but missed the ball completely and collapsed to the floor with no one around him.

Medical staff were quickly called onto the pitch, with the Uruguayan receiving oxygen through a mask before being stretchered off after eight minutes of treatment.

Tottenham provided a positive update regarding Bentancur’s condition at half-time, confirming he was on his way to hospital for further examination but was conscious and talking.

Taking to Instagram in the early hours of Thursday morning, Bentancur posted a story to confirm he was feeling better and on the mend.

“All good, guys!” he wrote. “Thank you for the messages!!! Congratulations [for] the victory boys!!!”

In the absence of Bentancur, Ange Postecoglou’s side went on to secure a fine win against top opposition, with Wednesday’s 1-0 triumph a far better showing against Arne Slot’s Reds than last month’s harrowing 6-3 defeat.

Lucas Bergvall scored the game’s only goal, sweeping home at the end of a fine team move only minutes after the visitors wanted him sent off for a second bookable offence.

Tottenham return to action on Sunday with a trip to non-league outfit Tamworth in round three of the FA Cup.

The club could provide a further update on Bentancur’s wellbeing prior to then, while Postecoglou will likely be asked about him at a pre-match press conference later this week.
