The Vice President of Gambia, Badara Joof, has been confirmed dead.
Joof’s principal, President Adama Barrow, broke the sad news on Wednesday morning via his official Twitter handle.

iBrandtv gathered that Joof passed away in India, where he was receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.
President Barrow sympathized with all Gambians over the demise of his vice, praying to God to grant the deceased Jannahtul Firdawsi.
Barrow’s tweet read: “Fellow #Gambians, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing away of my #VicePresident, His Excellency, Badara Alieu Joof. The sad event took place in India after a short illness. May Allah grant him Jannahtul Firdawsi.”

However, as at the time of filing this report, much information about the illness that led to the death of the Gambian Vice President were not made available to newsmen. The country’s leadership has also not released details about his burial.
