Barcelona has officially completed the signing of 18-year-old Malian footballer Ibrahim Diarra, a rising star from Africa Foot Academy for €1.7 million.
Barcelona made the announcement on their website on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, continuing their trend of securing the most talented young footballers to emerge from African shores.
Barcelona had already agreed to sign Diarra in January 2024, but FIFA regulations prohibiting the signing of non-EU minors prevented the deal.
Now that Diarra turned 18 on December 12, Barcelona can finalise the move.
The Malian youngster is a versatile, left-footed player primarily used as a right winger but also capable of playing in midfield. He has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2028, and he will join the reserve team.
Diarra helped Mali finish in third place at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup, scoring five goals and registering four assists in seven games to win the Silver Boot.
