FG Begins Process Of Deregistering ASUU

The Federal Government has begun the process of deregistering the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

It was learnt that the Congress of Nigerian University Academics (CONUA), a breakaway faction of ASUU, has been officially registered as a trade union.

According to the report, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, will present a Certificate of Registration to the new union before today runs out.

The official explained that the move by the government is part of processes to deregister ASUU, with a view to checking its incessant strikes that have grounded public universities in the last 7 months.
