Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has reportedly demanded the signing of Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres amid a poor start to his tenure.
Manchester United have continued to struggle since Amorim’s appointment as Erik ten Hag’s successor and are currently on a run of four straight defeats in all competitions.
The Red Devils have also failed to score in three of those matches amid a difficult spell for the new coach.

However, Amorim has already claimed that Manchester United have no ‘possibility’ of making any major signings this January unless they can free up some funds by selling stars.
The Red Devils have already invested heavily with a major spending spree in the summer of 2024 that saw them sign Leny Yoro, Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui.
The Portuguese coach has also previously claimed he would not try to sign any of his former Sporting players in January.

Amorim looks unlikely to be able to sign Gyokeres in the current transfer window, although the club are believed to be willing to sanction the departures of Rashford and Zirkzee.
In the meantime Amorim’s next game is another testing fixture as his United side go up against Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
