The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in partnership with voluntary organizations in Sokoto has called on the Senate to ensure speedy passage of the Almajiri Education Bill.
The chairman of the Sokoto state chapter of the NYCN, Mallam Yakubu Abubakar, made this call at a joint press conference in Sokoto, on Sunday.
Mallam Abubakar appealed to the senate to ensure the speedy passage of the bill and urged the president to give his sent as soon as possible.
The Almajiri Education and Out of School Children Bill 2023, was initiated and sponsored by Rep. Balarabe Kakale along with 17 other lawmakers.
The bill if passed would ensure the provision of a multimodal system of education to tackle illiteracy and develop skill acquisition and entrepreneurship programs.
The Chairman believes that the passage of the book would prevent youth poverty, delinquency, and destitution.
The groups also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for asserting the Nigeria Start-Up Bill and all stakeholders involved in providing the constitutional establishment of the Start-Up Act of 2022.
