The Adamawa drama appears to have come to an end, with the decision of a court on Wednesday.
Senator Binani had filed a suit, claiming the electoral body could not nullify the declaration made by Yunusa-Ari.
The 2023 gubernatorial election in Adamawa was surrounded by several controversies.
A gubernatorial election was held in the state on March 18.
However, the results were declared inconclusive.
Afterwards, a supplementary election was held on April 15, and counting and collation of results began immediately.
However, on April 16, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa-Ari, shocked everyone when he declared Aisha Binani Dahiru as the winner.
Binani, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared without the completion of the result collation.
Also, her declaration was done in the absence of the State’s returning officer.
Senator Binani had already accepted the declaration of the result and had given an acceptance speech.
But all of that were efforts in futility.
Indeed, that jubilation was short lived, as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) immediately nullified the it and summoned Yunusa-Ari to the commission’s headquarters.
Binani’s Suit
Senator Binani was not pleased with the way the whole thing changed.
She filed a suit claiming INEC could not nullify the declaration made by Yunusa-Ari.
INEC proceeded with the result collation and declared the incumbent Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri winner of the election with 430,869 votes, against Binani’s 398,788 votes.

However, a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has dismissed the application.
Justice Inyang Ekwo had earlier directed her lawyers to address him on jurisdiction by today, April 26.
On Wednesday, Binani’s lawyer, Mohammed Sheriff, told the court that he wants to discontinue the case citing issues arising within her political party.
Her lawyer applied that the case be struck out but the judge held that since he failed to address the court on jurisdiction in line with his orders, the suit will be dismissed.
Having applied for discontinuance, the judge dismissed the suit.
