The popular saying “everyday for the thief, one day for the owner” cannot be more true than what played out in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.
A group of some skilled hackers had taken it upon themselves to reap where they did not sow.
Could it be the hardship and hunger rocking the country?
Or was it just their greed?
Well, whatever the case may be, this individuals committed great offenses and will indeed face the full wrath of the law.
For only God knows how long, this crew have elevated themselves in the art of compromising bank data.
That was how they carried out unauthorized withdrawals of depositors’ funds.
But then, when they least expected, a credible intel delivered to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja led operatives straight to them.
That was how one Chima Anthony Nwigwe, the leader of the notorious bank hacking crew was arrested.
Nwigwe was apprehended along with three accomplices.
They are Effiong Victor Emmanuel, Mohammed Bello Mahmud, the managing director of Downstone Ultimate Limited, and Daminan Ali.
Meanwhile, they face allegations of conspiracy, unauthorized access to banking computer systems, and fraudulent withdrawals of depositors’ funds.
Sting Operation
Dele Oyewale, the Head of Media and Publicity for the EFCC confirmed the arrest of the syndicate in a statement on Tuesday.

The statement indicated that the suspects were taken into custody during a sting operation conducted by EFCC agents in the capital.
Their arrest was prompted by credible intelligence regarding their suspected activities.
The suspects are expected to face charges in court once the investigation is completed.
