The heavy rainfall and hailstorm caused floods and landslides that devastated districts in the north, west, and southern regions of the country.

The Rwanda Meteorology Agency had predicted above-average rainfall in their May weather forecast, but no one could have imagined the extent of the damage it would cause.

As rescue workers continue to search for survivors and recover bodies, the death toll has risen to 130.

The Rubavu district was hit the hardest, with over 1,000 homes destroyed, leaving many families homeless.

The injured have been rushed to local hospitals, and basic necessities such as tents, blankets, and food have been distributed to those affected.

The government, military forces, and humanitarian organizations have all launched interventions in response to the crisis, demonstrating the unity and resilience of the Rwandan people in times of hardship.

Despite the tragedy, there have been heartwarming stories of hope and kindness. Communities have come together to help each other, providing shelter to those who have lost their homes, and volunteers are working tirelessly to support rescue efforts.

Amidst the devastation, the Rwandan people have shown their strength and spirit, rising up in the face of adversity and supporting one another in a time of need.
