An aide to the late member-elect announced that he will be buried according to the Islamic rites on Saturday.
A House of Representatives member-elect in Taraba State, Hon. Isma’ila Yushua Maihanchi, has been confirmed dead.
Maihanchi is the elected representative member of the Jalingo/Yorro/ Zing Federal Constituency.
He reportedly died in the early hours of Saturday after a brief illness at an undisclosed hospital in Abuja.

Also, the spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Andeta’rang Irammae, confirmed the death.

The spokesperson said that the House of Representatives member fell sick shortly after the election and was receiving medical treatment in Abuja before his death.
What The Law Says
According to the 2022 Electoral Act, if a president-elect or governor-elect dies before being sworn in as president, the deputy will continue as president-elect or governor-elect, while a new deputy will be nominated.
On the other hand, for legislative offices, the 2022 Electoral Act does not make any provision.
However, the constitution provides that if a legislative seat becomes vacant, an election will be conducted 30 days after the vacancy occurs.
