There is so much tension in the premises of the University of Benin (UNIBEN). Students in the school campus, especially those in the Hall 3 Hostel are now in fear.
You may be wondering what caused the tension in UNIBEN.
It is because gunmen, suspected to be cultists, invaded the school and gunned down a final year student. He was an occupant of Hall 3 Hostel.
Mayor
The late student identified as Desmond, popularly known as ‘Mayor’ was said to be a student of the Department of Public Administration.
He was shot at about 9:00pm on Monday night causing panic among students.

As at the time of filing this report, his remains has been deposited at the morgue in the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.
No Chance To Survive
A student who pleaded anonymity said the deceased, was also said to be a Kegite Chief before he was killed.
He says, Mayor was shot in the face at point-blank range.

“The killing of Desmond has caused panic in the school. Students are even afraid to stay in the hostel.
“He was shot in the face and had no chance to survive the attack,” the student said.
