Once again, the Lagos State government is making moves to further compensate victims of the train and government’s BRT collision.
Majority of the train crash victims were employees of the Lagos State Government who were going to their various places of work.
On Tuesday, the Lagos State government said it would compensate victims of the accident involving a train and the government-owned Bus rapid transit (BRT).
That accident occurred on Thursday, March 9, 2023 in the Ikeja area of the state.
The state Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Fredric Oladeinde, gave the government’s position on Wednesday.
He announced the compensation while briefing journalists after a nine-member committee set up by the state government in the aftermath of the accident submitted its report.
The state government had established a committee made up of the Permanent Secretaries from the relevant Ministries of the State Public Service to identify the families of the deceased and their dependents as well as the injured officers.
The committee was also tasked with determining the proper compensation packages for each affected family and state government employees.
