At the end of the counting of votes in Lagos, a total of 582,454 votes were recorded for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.
But the party says the votes are more than the figures you heard.
In Lagos, there were reports of violence and threats, a situation many said were orchestrated to manipulate the election.
Also, in other parts of Nigeria, there were reports of rigging.
As a result, some parties have called for the cancellation of the election and the resignation of the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Surprisingly, the labour party is a third force in the elections as against the usual two that Nigerians have grown accustomed to.
The party came third place in the election with a margin that was not too large.
Indeed, Obi had won the hearts of many youths and they came out in large numbers to vote for him.
Obi’s influence and movement reflected in the result of Lagos State. He defeated the president-elect whos is of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
However, the LP gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has claimed that the party had more votes than was presented by INEC in the state.
According to Rhodes-Vivour, LP polled over 900,000 votes in Lagos state but INEC said the party polled 582,454 votes.
“From our situation room, we see that we won over 900, 000 votes and this was all because you came out.
“This was won without any voter inducement. We cannot stop thanking the good people of Lagos.
“We made history in that election; we took Lagos State and restored it to the people,” the LP gubernatorial candidate says.
LP Rejects INEC Result Announcement
INEC had promised to ensure that results from polling units would be uploaded online as soon as they were counted to promote transparency.
However, it was not done and INEC said it was a result of issues with the site which were later fixed.
The LP gubernatorial candidate has rejected the results, claiming they were wrong. He says they did not follow the process announced by the electoral umpire.

“We unequivocally reject the process by which the results were announced because it was not electronically done as promised by INEC,” Rhodes-Vivour said.
He urged Lagosians not to be discouraged by the outcome of the presidential and National Assembly election but to take courage in coming out on March 11 to vote out the ruling APC in the state.
