As counting of votes begin in Nigeria’s general election, you are likely to begin to see different election results circulating. Many Nigerians share results from their polling units.
Youths have taken to social media to share results from the 2023 Presidential elections and some of these results turn out to be fake.
This has become a source of concern to the Nigeria Police Force and they are making a statement about it.
According to the police, sharing fake election results news platforms.
This is contrary to the policy and guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the force was ready to punish persons spreading the fake results.

“The police have perceived this trend as a calculated attempt to heat up the polity and possibly create post elections chaos.
“We regard this as a disservice, unpatriotic and a disinformation.
“The NPF hereby warns those who are spreading these alleged/fake election results to desist from such mischievous acts and wait patiently for INEC’s official results, which are authentic and tenable,” Adejobi said.
The police urges Nigerians to remain calm, and go about their lawful engagements while they wait for INEC-verified results.
Mr Adejobi also assured Nigerians that security operatives have been provided at places where voting would take place on Sunday.
