The social media space has been buzzing with reactions after the arrest of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Patrick Agbazue, and his team over the killings and kidnappings in Anambra State.

CSP Agbazue is the officer in charge of State Criminal and Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) annex Awkuzu in Anambra State.

The officers were arrested and transferred to Abuja. 

There are allegations of misconduct, abuse of power, and violation of human rights hanging on their necks. 

According to reports, CSP Agbazue and his team were accused of extorting money from motorists and traders around Onitsha and its environs.

Also, there are claims that they subject innocent citizens to inhumane treatment, including torture and unlawful detention.

The arrest and transfer of CSP Agbazue and his team was carried out by the Police Service Commission (PSC) after an investigation into the allegations of misconduct.

The development is getting a resounding applause from human rights groups and other concerned citizens, who have been calling for the reform of the Nigeria Police Force.

They see it as a step in the right direction towards curbing the excesses of police officers who engage in unprofessional conduct, abuse of power and violation of citizens’ rights.
