The British Broadcasting Corporation claimed a festive viewing victory over streaming rivals such as Netflix, according to a report by The Guardian UK.
The report said 10.6 million viewers watched the monarch’s broadcast on BBC One, BBC Two, and ITV, making it the most-watched programme on Christmas Day.
An average of 8.1 million, 1.58 million, and 900,000 viewers were said to have watched the broadcast on BBC One, ITV, and BBC Two respectively.

The King’s address was reportedly the most popular Christmas Day broadcast by a monarch in the two decades that official TV ratings record monitoring audience levels have been kept.
The monarch addressed the nation from St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, where the committal service of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, was held three months ago, and where his father was laid to rest.
In the eight-minute message, Charles paid tribute to his mother and addressed the cost of the living crisis gripping the nation, alongside footage of food banks and meals being distributed to the needy, The Guardian UK reports.
This broadcast was the King’s first Christmas Broadcast after ascending the throne only a few months ago.
