The United States is planning to send Patriot air defense missiles to Ukraine, reports from US media reveal.
Unnamed officials reveal that President Biden is likely to announce this development, this week.
Ukraine has been requesting more air defense support to counter attacks by the Russians that had led to major blackouts and the deaths of many civilians.
Patriot is one of the most advanced US air defense systems but the US supply to Ukraine might be limited as the number of batteries to be sent is not yet known.

Once the move is approved, the systems are likely to be sent over in the coming days, with Ukrainian soldiers trained to use them at a US Army base in Grafenwoehr, Germany, the officials said.
The decision to provide this system is proof that the greatest war threats are no longer on land but in the air.
Russia has been targeting main infrastructures in Ukraine through air weapons, destroying major facilities like water and electricity.
Providing help for Ukraine, many countries and bodies have been supplying the country with advanced air defenses to battle against the Russians.
